Congratulations to Pr. Tiffany Chaney for being selected as a member of the ELCA Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church!

Pr. Chaney (she/her) is the Pastor Developer of Gathered by Grace.  Gathered by Grace is a community of young adults in Montgomery, Alabama, gathered by Christ, growing spiritually, serving our community, getting to know our neighbor, welcoming all, and sharing the Good News of Jesus.

The 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly voted to establish this Commission to reconsider the structure of the ELCA, with particular attention to our shared commitment to dismantling racism. This group will begin meeting this summer and will present its findings and recommendations to the 2025 Churchwide Assembly in preparation for a possible reconstituting convention.

The Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church (CRLC) has been called together to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit regarding the governance structure of the ELCA in the current context and into the future. I consider this kind of faithful discernment a foundation of Lutheranism. I am grateful for the opportunity to be among leaders from across the church to consider the way forward for the ELCA. I appreciate my former colleague for nominating me for the CRLC and I take seriously the responsibility to use my gifts and voice faithfully and inclusively while serving in this capacity.
