The offerings will be split between our synod youth ministry scholarship fund and the Julian Gordy Seminary Fund.
The service of Holy Communion with the Rite of Installation of The Reverend Kevin Lyle Strickland as Bishop of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will occur at 2pm EDT on Saturday, October 5th at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, GA. The installation of the Assistants to the Bishop and Synod Staff will also take place during this liturgy. All are welcome! A reception will follow the service. All rostered ministers are invited to process and vest and the color of the day is red. There will be a vesting area provided for you. Stay tuned for more details.
WHEN: Saturday, October 5, 2019, 2:00pm EDT. Be sure to arrive early. Seating will be reserved only for rostered leaders and synod council.

HOTELS: We do not have any blocks of hotel rooms at this time. All interested in attending will need to find accommodations on their own.

WHO IS BEING INSTALLED AT THIS WORSHIP SERVICE?
The Reverend Kevin L. Strickland is being installed as the fourth Bishop of the Southeastern Synod of the ELCA.
Once Bp. Strickland is installed, he will then install the Assistants to the Bishop and the rest of the Synod Staff. Here is a detailed list (in alphabetical order):

- The Reverend Patricia (Patti) Axel - Assistant to the Bishop and Director for Evangelical Mission (DEM)
- The Reverend Karen Boda - Assistant to the Bishop for Congregational Life

- Ms. Carolyn Nottingham Davis - Executive Assistant to the Bishop
- The Reverend Everett Flanigan - Administrative Dean for the Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta, Assistant to the Bishop
- Ms. Melissa Fuller Sims - Assistant to the Bishop and Directors for Evangelical Mission (DEM)
- The Reverend Jill Henning - Assistant to the Bishop for Leadership and Administration
- The Reverend Michael L. Jannett - Assistant to the Bishop for Formation and Communication
- Ms. Holly Liersch - Office Manager
We give thanks for these servants of the church and pray for them in their new or existing roles in our synod.
WILL ASSISTANCE BE PROVIDED FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING?
Yes!!! We will be offering Assistive Listening Devices and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for the entire service.
HOW CAN I HELP / BE INVOLVED?
The Southeastern Synod Bishop's Installation Team offers several opportunities to become involved and contribute to the activities of the day.
>>> Contributing towards the cost of the Installation service:
The team is seeking individuals, congregations, and other groups who are interested in contributing towards the costs of the Installation service. Any contribution, large or small, is most welcome as we celebrate and give thanks for this important moment in the life of our Synod.
We will use these funds for covering the costs of the Installation weekend which include items such as:
- Live streaming
- Music and musicians
- Hospitality to guests
- Communion bread and wine

ARE ROSTERED LEADERS INVITED TO PROCESS?
YES! Absolutely! All Rostered Leaders of ALL traditions are invited to process and vest according to each individual's tradition's customs. The color of the day is red. We will gather in the classrooms in the basement of the cathedral.
WILL THERE BE A RECEPTION?
YES! A reception will follow the service in the Atrium of the Cathedral of St. Philip. All are welcome!
WHAT MISSION OR MINISTRY WILL OUR OFFERING SUPPORT?
Offerings for this service will be divided and given to two new initiatives for the Southeastern Synod. One will be to establish a Youth Scholarship fund to help Youth in our synod attend synodical and Churchwide youth events, who otherwise could not afford to attend. And the other will be to establish the Julian Gordy Seminary Scholarship Fund.
