Youth Ministry E-News January 09
January 2009 ELCA Southeastern Synod Youth Ministry E-News
Lent begins in a couple of weeks! A great way to start this contemplative season this year might be with taking your youth on an outing to a Labyrinth. If you have never done one, here’s how it works, walk, walk, turn, stop, think and pray, walk, walk, turn, stop, think and pray. You might have one at your church or at a congregation or even at a retreat center near you. Maybe you could build one at your church with a sack of pebbles or rocks for the lent season as a youth project. Some websites to help you find one or create one are : http://www.labyrinthos.net/classical.htm, http://labyrinthsociety.org, http://www.lessons4living.com/mercer.htm; http://www.angelfire.com/tn/SacredLabyrinth. Another idea for a youth activity is to create a finger labyrinth out of clay or have your youth draw one on paper for themselves or to share with each other for the Lent season. Here’s some examples and directions http://www.bluemoonlabyrinths.com/ ; http://www.mountainvalleycenter.com/labchart.htm
And if you would just like to email your youth a finger labyrinth, here’s a site for that as well. http://www.lessons4living.com/finger_labyrinth.htm and I’ve attached a dowloadable copy at the end of the e-news you can copy and share with your youth. My pray for you and your youth group this season is that you will become Closer to God and Grow in Your Faith.
In Christ,
