The Bible is a book of faith, a bearer of Good News, a shaper of lives. This year's theme will support and equip youth is using the Bible as a resource and guide in their daily living.

Here’s the latest information from Chicago! Over 33,000 youth and adults have registered for the Gathering, and 750 for MYLE. Register soon! Registration stays open until January 15, 2009... or until it fills up. 413 youth and adults from 34 congregations have signed up from the Southeastern Synod so far! http://archive.elca.org/youth/gathering.htmlThere is a real need for young adult volunteers for this event! If you can help please go to the website for more information. The target age is 20-25 but they will take the young at heart too. Each Servant Companion will welcome, lead, facilitate, and care for groups of 45 youth and their adult leaders throughout the ELCA Youth Gathering experiences in New Orleans. This will include service projects, theological reflections, and interactions with an area of justice. Who do you know?
MYLE is the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event that is before the Gathering. The cost is $175 per person which covers hotel, programming, and food. It does not cover travel but I am coordinating transportation to MYLE since there is a group that is interested in participating from the Southeastern Synod. I realize there are multicultural youth that might not get to go to this event because they are the only person in their youth group. So maybe we can go together.
